Snowshoe Crew Jackets!

** if you're looking for Thursday's plan, it's in the post below this one***

Mike has worked with our supplier, and we're ready to re-order additional snowshoe crew jackets!  They will look like the ones pictured below, but will also include our two newest sponsors, Appliance Village and TerraLoco.  They are high quality jacket made by Landaway.

If you'd like to order one, send your request to Mike by Superbowl Sunday.. Mike's email is nepstad@frontiernet.net.   Send a size, and let him know if you'd like mens' or women's cut.   (I am not 100% sure on the price, I think last time we had it done it was $65 and a few bucks more if you want your name, or something embroidered on the front).    If the price changed, I will update this post... but that should be in the ball park.

What's up?

As you see in the previous post.. Chris and Andy rocked the Polar Dash!  However, I would say it could be argued two of the Team R.E.D. women rocked it a bit more.. they rocked it like a wagon wheel!

  • Congrats to Gwen for winning her age group on the 10K!
  • Congrats to Dani for a 2nd place woman in the 14 Miler.. that's 2nd woman overall!
They weren't at that race alone, several members had great races under less than perfect conditions.  Others raced that same day at the Rochester Resolution Run... of course, others didn't race, but logged miles none the less... lots of miles!   Great job staying after it Team R.E.D.!

Recovering...   Chris, Gwen and Andy

Don ready to head out!
As you all well know, Monday marked the coldest temperatures in 18'ish years!  Yet Monday Maniacs still got the wheels moving.  Most of the members were pretty smart and ran or walked the skyway/subway systems (including a bunch or stairs!).   A couple elected to do something else.

Don and Peter both ventured outside, very well prepared for the weather!

Don and Peter post run

Best wishes for Several Team R.E.D. members  heading to Disney for the weekend of race events!  Many competing in the Dopey... running races in 4 consecutive days.. 5K, 10K, half marathon, full marathon!  Yeow!   Rock that stuff!  We want to hear updates, pictures are always welcome!

The Thursday Team R.E.D. location has been determined...

Thursday 6pm:  Brothers Bar & Grill - please park at the back of the bar, and plan to hear the route talk inside the bar.. I love the inside of a bar!  Routes will be 3-6 miles.. you know the routine.. do what you like, and come back for the social!

Fantastic!

The weather is about to break.... good running ahead!

I had posted the picture you see below on our Facebook page, but I know you are not all Facebook users (which I don't understand)... none the less.. here it is..

Running with teammates, all things will be FANTASTIC! -- all reports post race for these two and others at the event, were fantastic! Great results along with the trials of the weather.  All things are achievable when you decide to do it.

I will have some more pics and results to announce from the Polar Dash later tonight (I hope).

Fun Stuff !

A lot of Team R.E.D. members were spotted at the Prediction Run in Rochester this morning.  Looking forward to seeing the results of this fun race!

Some updates on the next few days.

First and foremost:  Stay safe!   Consider if it is truly important to run outside.. it may or may not be.  If you do run outside as the temps drop and winds pick up..  Be Safe!   Dress Wisely and Cut back the miles if need be.

Next - here's whats coming up...

Sunday 8am:  Off Season Striders get it going from Dunn Bros North.   Get some outside miles before the bottom completely drops and check back in to Dunns for a coffee or treat!
Monday 6pm:   Monday Maniacs are meeting at Dooleys Pub.  This is the day I'm most concerned about so we encourage you to consider an evening of walking the skywalk or subway system.  You can run there too... but nothing wrong with walking it!  Of course, come back into the pub for some post exercise fun!
Tuesday 5:30pm:  The Speed is On at the indoor track of RCTC!   Bring dry running shoes to change into once you've gotten on the track.   It's been a few weeks since the track has been available, so this should be a nice change of pace, so to speak.
Tuesday 6:15pm:  The trail crew is heading into the woods of Eastwood Park.  They plan to log a few miles and cruise over to the Wicked Moose for a warming tent!
Thursday 6pm:  Location TBD - Team R.E.D. walk, run and fun is the plan!

Happy New Year!

What a great year in 2013... certainly more fitness and fun ahead in 2014!  April of 2014 will mark the Team R.E.D. 5 year anniversary!   We'll plan a fantastic way to celebrate our Wooden Anniversary (I think that's what you call 5 years)!

We're looking forward to hearing how members did at the Polar Dash and the Resolution runs this morning... a great day for racing!

This weekend there are some great opportunities... including a Salsa Lesson on Friday night!   Check it out..

Thursday 6pm:  Team R.E.D. kicks off the New Year from the Bears Den in Byron.  Routes will be 3, 4 or 6 miles of fun!  Come out and enjoy!
Friday 7:30pm:   Club Salsa lessons and dance at the Blue Moon Ballroom.   $10 cover charge gets you in and a salsa lesson (the lesson starts at 7:30 so arrive on time).  Dancing available from 8-11pm.
Saturday 9am:  The Polar Bear Prediction Run rolls out of Gloria Dei Church.   This is a race that anyone can win!  The winner is the person who most closely predicts their finish time, so not necessarily the fastest person.   It's super fun, and there will be a lot of prizes for Rochester Track Club members.
Sunday 8am:   Off Season Striders head out from Dunn Bros North for some miles.. and wrap it up with some coffee and breakfast.   Always a great way to start the day.
