Keep On Moving!

Several Team R.E.D. members were able to make it to Rachel & KP's place to enjoy a Pig Roast, and do some good for Channel One and the Women's Shelter.   Somehow I didn't get a picture of Rachel!  Shoot!

Rachel did report the event raised over $400 in donations, along with 186 canned goods, and bunches of toiletries!  Thanks to the Hammers for hosting the get together!

KP working the Hog!

It rained a couple of times, and somehow Team RED members were the ones under the tent hosting the Keg of Beer!

Randy, Wendy, Gwen, Christina & Marilee (not pictured, but known to have stopped in are Mike and Sarah).

Monday 6pm:  Monday Maniacs will beet at Dooley's in downtown Rochester.  They have a great patio, weather permitting.   Plan on running or walking anywhere from 3-6 miles, and coming back to enjoy the company!
Tuesday 6pm:  The All-Comers Meets in Rochester are full on!  -- bring your kids out to race some fun short races, long jump and enjoy the night! If you'd like to volunteer.. show up between 5:30 and 5:45 and ask for Gwen or Ann, they will find your job!
Tuesday 6pm:  TerraLoco hosts their weekly 5K for Charity.  TerraLoco is located at 1190 16th St NW (near Trader Joes').
Tuesday 6:15pm:  The Trail Crew will be getting out and logging miles at Essex Park!  The plan is to find a reasonably dry place to run... The miles will be wonderful and the people even better!
Wednesday 5:45pm:   Woo is once again leading a hill workout starting at Soldiers Field Memorial in Rochester. Meet in the parking lot by the memorial.  The location gives us a nice 3/4 mile warmup before the hill repeats begin!
Thursday 6pm:  Team R.E.D. hits the Bears Den in Byron.   A Thursday night run or walk is a great way to kick off your celebration weekend!
Friday 8am:  The Stewartvilled Summerfest races!  There's a 5 Mile and 3 Mile (and you can do both!).   Check out registration details at the following link http://rochestertrackclub.com/main.asp?SectionID=3&SubSectionID=28&ArticleID=553&TM=59559.93
Saturday 7am:  The Marathon Training long run rolls out of the RAC.  I believe this week's mileage is 12 for Marathoners, and 6-7 for Half marathoners.   The long runs are open to everyone, you do not need to be a part of any club, or the marathon training class to participate.  Simply bring $1 to help cover the cost of Gatorade/banannas and what not, that are served along the run!
Sunday 8am:  Off Season Striders will be out and about - check back for details on the starting location.

Pig Roast Update!

Please see the update below from Rachel regarding this afternoons pig roast at the Hammer House! Conveniently located at 1035 4th Ave SE, Rochester.

We might be the Walrus....

Hey Pig Roast Party—

The pig has been on the grill since last night and makes our whole street smell like bacon! We look forward to hosting you all still today (since tomorrowlooks even stormier). We do have several tents put up in case it gets rainy, but bring an umbrella or raincoat/boots if it’s still looking like this evening is going to dump. To expand the window of sunny afternoon for our pork enjoyment, the pig will be ready to eat at 4pm—so if you are able to/want to come on the early side, do! We have collection buckets set up for can/toiletry donations to Channel One and the Women’s Shelter. There is also a special pig painting for this year’s event—the theme of which I decided very late last night—the Beatles’ I am the Walrus. You don’t have to wear tie-dye or a Beatles’ wig,
but you get an extra serving if you do. Goo goo g’joob.

See you soon! Come hungry—
Rachel

The longer of the two runs appears to be 10 miles this week.  You do not need to be a member of the training program to take part, they simply ask that you bring $1 to help cover the cost of Gatorade/bananas and what not... yes.. they have aid stations!  It's a great way to train!
  • Saturday 9am: Get Your Rear in Gear.... If you have a Team Jean shirt this is the time to put it on! Gastfield raced with that shirt at the Grandmas 5K... and he looked great!
  • Saturday 9am:  The Insane Inflatable 5K is going on at Gamehaven!  Team R.E.D. has a crew going in the 9am wave...  the pics of this event look incredible!  There are still openings to register.. and I would bet, you could register for one wave (and I didn't say this).. sneak in the Team RED wave.....
  • Sunday 8am:   Off Season Striders head out from Brothers Bar & Grill... this is typically a 5-8 mile run (but you can always do what you want!).    Park behind the bar and gather for the route talk before heading out for the fitness!

Adding Wednesday! Defining Thursday! Reminding Friday!

Hey all.. the previous post has the week pretty well lined up, but we are adding a Wednesday night run or walk... albeit, it's a challenging one!

Wednesday 5:45pm:   Typically Wednesdays are speed sessions, but since so many have raced this past weekend, and again Tuesday... we're looking at a Hill Workout.  Meet at the parking lot for the Memorial of Soldiers Field and we'll take a 3/4 mile slow warm up to the base of the hill at the intersection of 10th St SW and 9th Ave SW.. this gives you two options... a long gradual hill.. or a steep mean one.  (we tend to repeat on the long gradual).

You can do this repeat as many times as you like, and there are flat areas to recover if you need some (I will need some!)   Join us for a workout that will make you a better runner!

Thursday 6pm:  We'll gather at WildWood Bar & Grill in Rochester... weather permitting a patio night! If not, a fun night with a great run or walk to get us ready!

Friday 6pm:  Don't forget the Camp Olson YMCA One Mile on the RochesterFest Parade route!   You can register online at http://www.zapevent.com/listactivities.aspx?eventid=5241   Remember you get to run or walk to a throng of spectators!  More than you may have ever been in front of before.. and it all benefits scholarships for campers!

Great short story on Roger's recovery...

Here's a link to a story that Julie Yost shared.... Roger Heil is coming back!  He ran the All-Comers Mile tonight and ran fantastic!  If you think its hard to stay fit... shut up and get to work!

Another great pic from Grandmas (this one stolen from Alyssa)..  it certainly doesn't capture everyone... but it captures the spirit!

HammerTime II

We have two new members!  So nice to see!

Kristina and Claire joined RED tonight!   They have both attended a few events before deciding to jump on in as members, but we are happy they decided to do so!

Kristina is training for her first marathon which will come in Sept in Marquette!  She is a newly transplanted Byron girl and getting to know the area quite nicely, on foot!

Claire is a Hamline Athlete, and a track fanatic.  Rumor has it she jaywalked a busy highway while on crutches to see the state high school track meet! (and if she had her way, she would have ziplined over the highway, but she couldn't have her way).

** I have to apologize to Claire in advance, I promise I used the picture that made you look the least possessed...

Welcome Kristina and Claire!

Champions! Course Records! Wine!

Many Team R.E.D. members had great days at the ChesterWoods trail races.

Jen managed to run herself into the record books!  She not only won the 50K, but she also set a course record!  Way to go Jen!

Jen overtakes Dan.. with a smile!

A reminiscing shot from last year, when Jen apparently dumped Bri to the dirt!  That must be when she started her drive to not only win this shit, but set the course record!  She loves Bri.. but tossed her aside like "whatever"!

In the 5K... Dani crushed the course record as well.. it was the year of the women!   Nice work!

Dani Rocks the 5K.. new course record!

Several women of R.E.D. celebrated at Four Daughters Winery!  They are so awesome! What a great crew!
