Here we go!

Be sure to register for the Team R.E.D. Underwear One Mile!  You can do so by visiting https://form.jotform.com/53147709703962  --  Each participant will receive a pink ribbon bandana and know you've helped support Join the Journey and their mission with Breast Cancer patients on their journey.

All you need to do is put on some fun undies and run a mile!  - More importantly, register so the donation is available for Join the Journey.

We have great sponsors for this event.   Thank you to Byron MarketPlace & Bears Den for their financial support! - Their financial support makes it possible to donate ALL of the proceeds to the charity!

Thank you for the prize donations from TerraLoco, Needs Car Wash, Med City Marathon and Santas On the Run.

Group runs on the horizon... you do not need to be a member of Team R.E.D., Rochester Track Club, Off Season Striders, SE MN Trail Runners, PETA, NRA, Tea Party, or any other group to attend any of these group runs/walks.... simply join us for a workout and social!

Saturday 7:30am:   Off Season Striders (OSS) are getting together at Brothers Bar & Grill in Rochester. As always at Brothers, meet at the back door (park in the back too).  This holds the prime, front door parking for peeople who are coming to Brothers, and actually staying!  - We'll come back for a bit of coffee, breakfast and chit chats!
Sunday 8am:  OSS rolls out of Dunn Bros North for another jaunt around town.  Distances are always flexible, and the pace within the group varies based on who is attending on a given day.
Monday 6pm:  Monday Maniacs are heading to Douglas for a great night on the Douglas Trail, and inside the always classy Douglas Saloon and Social Club.  - We anticipate Paul Thomford may join us this night!
Tuesday 6pm: TerraLoco hosts the RED Kettle Night for the Salvation Army.  Bring at least a $5 donation and you'll get to head out for a run, knowing you've helped some people!
Tuesday 6:15pm:  The Tuesday Trail Crew is heading to Quarry Hill.  This is a fun place to run and enjoy the evening.  Meet at the parking lot near the end of 9th Street NE near the playground and ball diamonds.
Wednesday: Nothing is currently scheduled, if you have an idea for a group workout and you're willing to lead it, let me know and I'll share it.
Thursdays 6pm:  Team R.E.D. heads to the Bears Den for an evening of walking and running.  - of course some great socializing afterwards!  Plan on routes of 3, 4 or 6 miles.

Quick Update

The self-proclaimed Meteorologist Matt Goens shared these pics while 5 of our teamates are traveling to the Route 66 Marathon.  They are in Iowa... let's get some of that weather here, and let the snow shoeing begin!

Best wishes to our crew at Route 66!  Go Tom, Gwen, Matt, Kasey and Meagan.   - drive safe, run fast - that's a direct quote from Brock.

This one is not weather related.. they just realized Gwen was driving so they got everyone else off the road!

The Weekend and Beyond!

Be sure to check out the poll on the right side of the blog.. in the past we've done Christmas Caroling on the Run. When we do this, we ask that you bring a cash donation, and we'll run in to a few restaurants, sing a song and buy some meals for some good people! It's a total surprise to the recipients - we set a couple of routes that allows runners to run and walkers to walk and we can all get there pretty close to each other.  Please vote on the poll.

*****************************

We had a great turnout at Billotti's for the Thursday Night Team R.E.D.  The wind was strong but the team was stronger!  - We all need to remember, once you get started, most times the weather isn't as tough as it first appears.  I did wear my shoe hoodies to help shield the wind. - this product was invented by Team R.E.D. members Steve & Jean Knutson.

We had a chance to learn a bit about Brian and Angela's Las Vegas get-a-way for the Rock 'n Roll Marathon.  This was Angela's first and she ran very strong!  Brian says she's got the bug and is looking forward to Twin Cities Marathon in 2016!   - Way to go Angela... Congratulations!

Brian & Angela - Run Minnesota!

... and they finished!  -  Congrats to both! - For Brian it's old hat... for Angela Marathon #1 is in the books!  Sweet!
Thanks to a connection with Gwen...    Brian and Angela also had a chance to meet Helene in Las Vegas... if you recall Helene ran through Rochester and Byron during her trek around the perimeter of the country!  - Team R.E.D. had a chance to meet up with her and log some miles, she was very grateful to have us join her.

She is planning to have her journey around the United States, and her journey with cancer, made into a movie and she says the sea of R.E.D. running down Hwy 14 when she was about half way across the northern stretch is something that will definitely be part of the movie... my only request is that Sylvester Stallone play the role of Tom O'Leary.

Angelas brother Josh and his wife Stacey, with Helene, Angela and Brian

Helene's route... all the way around!

Here's a look at what's coming up!

Saturday 7:30am:  Off Season Striders are gathering at Charlies on 2nd (just west of St Marys) - we actually meet in the lobby of Brentwood Motel, which is connected to Charlies (or Charlies is connected to the Brentwood).   - Join us for nearly any distance at nearly any pace! - come back to Charlies for some breakfast, coffee and social!
Sunday 8am:  Off Season Striders meet at Panera North.  From there we'll likely hop onto the Douglas trail and log some miles with smiles!  - Of course, come back for the social!
Sunday 1pm:  Hike at Oxbow Park - Meet at the first bridge, we'll hit the woods and be home in our Lazy Boys in plenty of time for Kick-off between the Vikings and Packers!
Monday 6pm:  Monday Maniacs are heading to LTS Brewery.  This is a fun location, with some great beer to be had post run.  LTS doesn't serve food, but they have great popcorn! - also you can order food in or bring something to munch on.  LTS is located at 2001 32nd Ave NW Rochester.
Tuesday 6:15pm:   The Tuesday Trail crew is heading to Millville - meet at the ballfield on cty 2.  This provides a nice out and back route so no matter your pace, or distance join us! The post social is likely to be at Whiskey Richards in Downtown Millville.

Thursday is Thanksgiving Day - There is no 6pm Team R.E.D. group run/walk on Thanksgiving, however there are a lot of opportunities!

Thanksgiving 8am:  Paul & Annette are hosting a group run/walk from their home.  It's a chance to get out with friends and possibly meet some of your Team R.E.D. teammates while starting your Thanksgiving off right!   -- Paul & Annette can be found at 6005 10th St. SW, Rochester - that street would also be known as cty road 104 as it's in the country and we like it that way.
Thanksgiving 8:30am:   Mom's on the Run host the Gobble Wobble from Autumn Ridge Church.  It's a 5K for the whole family benefiting the Salvation Army.  This is a well run event with lots of participants.   More information at http://rochestertrackclub.com/main.asp?SectionID=3&SubSectionID=28&ArticleID=805

Hash House Party on Saturday!

There are a few things going on this weekend, hopefully you can get out and about to some of the group opportunities!

Saturday 7:30am:  Off Season Striders are gathering at Five West (along 19th St and Circle Drive, near Costco).   - There are a few great options along the trail system from this location.
Sunday 8am:  Off Season Striders is heading to the People's Food Coop downtown.  This is another great spot to get some miles, and come back for the social.

Hash House Party!  On! On!

Saturday 1pm:  - Join us at the home of the O'Leary's at 805 1st Ave NW in Byron.  Beer, Wine, Soup & Appetizers provided!  - and there's an opportunity to participate in a Hash!

What's a hash?  - well, it's something created by the Hash House Harriers, the original drinking club with a running problem.   We'll go over the rules of a Hash before we hit the course, but in general during a hash...

  • Participants will run or walk on a course marked by flour
  • Some of the markings are true... some are false leads
  • When you come to an intersection you will have to decide which markings to follow, and if you discover you're on the correct route, you yell "On! On!" so others know to follow you.  - if you are on the wrong route, hustle back and get on the right course!
  • The course will run approx 4 miles in length.
  • Have fun!
  • Enjoy a beverage or two, along with food and great conversation.
  • You are all invited whether you're an official Team R.E.D. member, or someone who has been following the blog, and thinking about becoming a member.  Come one, come all.. On! On!
