The Team R.E.D. Youth Scholarship has been a success to date.   We have made offers to sponsor 12 more young people in the month of September.  I'm not sure if I shared this email from a previous recipient, so just in case, I've pasted it below.   Nice work Team R.E.D.!

Dear Team R.E.D.,

I am writing to thank you for the youth scholarship you gave to my daughter, Laurel. That was her first race and she loved it! Amazingly before this race the longest she had ever run was 2 mi, but she decided to take on the 10k. We ran together and finished in 59.35! She was one of only two 11 y/o to run the longer race.

Thank you again for your generosity,

Julie Woodrum

**Note: if you'd like to make a contribution to keep the Scholarship Fund flowing, please direct the funds to Wendy O'Leary.  She will make sure the funds go to the correct account.

Are you a Warrior?

Better yet... are you a Team R.E.D. Cowboy Warrior?   See the note from Dan below.. (thanks to Dan and Adam for working out the lodging!)

Along with the information below..I know of at least one bib that could be transferred..

Warrior Dash MN 2 is this weekend, September 8 and Team R.E.D. is in the 12:30pm wave.  There are still late spots left if you still need to register and in the past they have allowed people to run in any wave if groups get split up.  Campers:  Adam Walters is the contact if you have questions and the group camp site is at the William O’Brien State Park for both Friday night and Saturday night.  Hotel persons will be at the Hampton Inn Minneapolis St Paul North which is in Shoreview, MN (a short drive of 15-20 minutes to the Warrior Dash or the campsite) and Dan Mesenburg is the contact.

Theme for this year’s Warrior Dash is COWBOY R.E.D!  Wear anything cowboy and your Team R.E.D. shirt.  Any of the party stores are good spots to pick up some cost effective cowboy items.

We plan to meet no later than 11am at the Warrior Dash… plan time for parking, bus ride or walking to the Dash area.  Team Cowboy R.E.D. will meet in the center of the staging area as we did last year.  After we run and refuel with some refreshments we will head out to the campsite for some afternoon fun.  So we have an idea of who is a Warrior this year, drop Dan a quick email at Dan@svmrochester.comso we can build a list of our group.

Tonight's Trail!

Wow... several women of R.E.D. had a great time (and great results) at the Women Rock in the Twin Cities this weekend.  I wonder if the half naked firemen had anything to do with it?  Here's Annette with 'her guy'

Tuesday 6pm at Essex Park (located along 55th NW and West River Parkway). Meet in the parking lot at 6pm and head out for about 4 miles of trail running.
Wednesday Track is off for this week...
Thursday 6pm: Team R.E.D. hits the Bears Den in Byron once again! Come on out and join the fun... routes will be 3, 4 and 6 miles.

Saturday, September 1, 2012

Another opportunity!

Mason has pulled together a Sunday trail run at Oxbow.  Get on out to the park... lots of fun on those trails.   See the note from Jim below.

  • Meet at 1PM at the Main Picnic area at Oxbow Park (Sunday September 2, 2012). Since I can't run on Tuesday nights anymore I thought I would try to get something going on Sunday afternoons. Please feel free to invite a friend.

Quick update

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!   Several Team R.E.D. members are off to a good start in the cities with half naked fireman this weekend.. good luck with that!

Sunday 7:30am:  The Off Season Striders (OSS) will gather at Panera South for a run, and settle in for some coffee and social time.  Routes are very flexible on OSS days.

Note:  Monday Maniacs is officially taking this week off due to the Labor Day holiday.  However that doesn't mean you can't go for a run... or even swing by WildWood at 6pm to see if anyone else elected to go despite the 'day off'

Below are some pictures from Thursdays adventure of Team R.E.D.  It was a small group, but very lively!  We met a couple of new people as well, Jay and Kristie!  Hope to see them back real soon!
