Great Job! Great Week Ahead!

The USATF Team Circuit officially got underway on Sunday, and Team R.E.D. fared very well in the Blue Division (Blue is for the cool clubs like us, Red division is the larger, highly competitive clubs).

We fared well in all categories, most notably taking 1st Place in the Men's Masters category!  Congrats!   Team circuit results are posted here.  http://www.usatfmn.org/results  Additionally, the full set of runner results can be found here http://www.mtecresults.com/race/show/1377/2013_Irish_Run_Saint_Paul-8K

Here's the team post race... they look pretty intimidating!

Team R.E.D. at Irish Run 2013!

**********************************

We had a strong night at Monday Maniacs!  Bunches of members hit the roads of Byron!  In fact, we got a new member as Dan  joined!   (picture will have to follow as we didn't take one!)

Let's keep it rolling with a look at what's up this week... note Thursday is a new location, and sure looks like it could be a lot of fun!

  • Tonight 6pm: Mason and the trail crew are at it again!  OMG!! We're Still Snowshoeing "Whitewater Edition"
    • Meet at the Century High School parking lot, near the baseball fields at 6pm, and we'll carpool, caravan from there.
  • Wednesday 5:30pm: The RCTC track is the place to get the speed rolling for the race season!  Come on out and run!
  • Thursday 6pm:   Erin has landed us a location with one heck of a post race meal/beverage plan!  Join us at the Eagles Club located at 917 15th Ave Se, Rochester (next to Cub Foods).  We'll have the typical 3, 4 or 6 mile routes, and post run/walk, we can enjoy an All you can eat burger/brats and beer for $8 food till 8pm and beer till 9pm (additional menu items are also available from the kitchen).

A couple interesting races are coming up this summer.. check them out below, thanks to Kelle and Marv for sharing the details!

Hammer Race
The Hammer Race is an obstacle/terrain race in Southern MN. Part adventure race and part obstacle race, the Hammer Race is as much of a mental challenge as it is a physical one. On top of the mud,
obstacles, and rugged terrain, participants in the Hammer Race must carry a minimum 8lb sledge hammer throughout the entire course. You must cross the finish line with a Hammer to be considered a finisher, and may even need it to do so. So make sure you get to know your Hammer companion, and do not neglect it. Talk to it. Sleep with it. Keep it well groomed. Work to strengthen the bond, for you will need it to stay close and have no reason to wander off.

Tortoise vs Hare
Using a formula that factors in a runners age, gender, height, and weight, a graded start time is given to each runner. Individuals who have been blessed with a "runner's body" and are in their prime running years will receive little to no time advantage. All others will be give a head start.
