Wow!

Team R.E.D. members are every place!   This weekend provided an opportunity from the 5K, to the Marathon, to a 50 Miler!

Congrats to Rick C. who now owns the new course record at the VAD 5K!  Here's a shot of Jessica and Noel getting over the bridge and on their way!

The Lake Wobegon Marathon was a great success for several teammates!   Braden Boston Qualified ! Congrats!

Braden and Evan finished 6th & 7th overall logging times of 2:57:51 and 2:58:29!   Additionally, strong races were run by Marv, Dave, Mike, Lorelei and Renee (back in town for a bit!)

There was a great contingent of Team R.E.D. spectators as well, they reported it to be great fun!

Dave, Lorelei and Mike - post race Wobegon

Don Sullivan showed strong tribute to Paul Melby by pacing Paul's Pace... crossing the line at 3:14:38, within 1 second of Paul's 2011 finish time!  Very nice.  Additionally, Don made a contribution to the American Heart Association in Paul's memory.  If you'd like to do the same, you can do so at https://donate.americanheart.org/ecommerce/aha/aha_index.jsp

Meanwhile.. in Indiana... Andy H, Trevor and Jeff were running the Dances with Dirt 50 miler... Andy found himself running a few extra miles, yet finishing 4th overall!  Wow!

What's up this coming week?
  • Monday 6pm:  Monday Maniacs head to Douglas!  It's always a good time at the old time saloon!  Plan to meet in the parking lot of the Douglas trail in Douglas. The group will head north on the tail, and you can choose the paved trail or the dirt trail that runs parallel.  Plan on 3, 4 or 6 miles, what works for you!    Afterwards we will see if the rumor is true that there is a saloon in the town of Douglas!
  • Tuesday 6pm:  Tuesday Trail Travelers are heading to Bill Barancle State Woodland for a romp through the bluebells!  Plan to meet at the BP in Marion and carpool / caravan from there.  These Tuesday night runs have continued to grow in popularity.  If you haven't checked it out..  this would be a great week to do so!
  • Wednesday 5:30pm:  Track work is at Soldiers Field in Rochester.  It's be nice to run some speed outdoors!
  • Thursday 6pm:   Team R.E.D. is gathering at the Bears Den in Byron.  We'll get out on the streets, bike paths to explore the rolling side of Byron.   Routes will be 3, 4 and 6 miles... of course, settling in the Den post run/walk is always fun too!
  • Friday 6:30pm:   Stay out of the Sun Run ... this is a fantastic 5K/10K that has raised over 180K in the past 7 years to help fund melanoma research and education!
  • Saturday 7:15am:  The marathon training long run heads out from the RAC.  The miles are up... and the marathons are near!  Get out and train with the crew!
  • Sunday 8am:  I'd fully anticipate an Off Season Striders run.  Check back for details.
  • Sunday 1:00pm:   The Roll & Stroll for JDRF takes place at Soldiers Field in Rochester.   Registration starts at noon... and includes a picnic lunch!
    • This event is one that was launched by Wendy & Tom (with many volunteers) 8 years ago, when Megan was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes.  We'd love to see you there if you can make it... there is zero dollars for registration fees... but we do love donations!   Since we started this event, we've raised over $350,000!

  • Sunday 5pm:  Dan and Amy have invited us all to help wrap up Robert's Graduation party with a Team R.E.D. evening of running, walking, eating, drinking and a bit of fire jumping!  It all goes down at 1098 8th Ave NW in Byron.  The routes will be 3, 4 or 6 miles.. and food is catered by the Bears Den!
    • -- Sunday sure sounds like a fun day from the 8am on!
