Calling Volunteers!

The races are fun... and we all know, they don't happen without a whole lot of volunteers.   Below are a couple of upcoming opportunities to volunteer!

Sunday Aug 19th:   The Rochester Track Club is holding a Trash Pickup prior to the annual picnic at Soldiers Field.   Trash pickup begins  at 4pm this Sunday, with the picnic following at 5pm.   The track club has adopted the trail that wraps around Soldiers field, lots of miles logged on those trails by many of us! -- come take part in both the trash pickup and picnic!

Saturday Augs 25th:  Team R.E.D. is providing a happenin' water stop at Rochester Half Marathon & 5K.   We've excelled in the area of making a fun space for runners to get the refuel they need, both via gatorade/water and with a lift in spirit.   We're returning to our Med City 2011 theme of Summer of Love!  Team R.E.D. will provide music, beer and lots of support!   I pulled out a couple pictures from the original Summer of Love water stop.. check it out, as it's so much fun!  ... and please drop me an email at if you're interested and available to help.

Big Night! Big Weekend!

This is a long post with details regarding many events... hit the bullets that fit your fancy....

New Member!  At Wednesday morning's progressive run we welcomed Beth to the team!  She still needs to receive her shirt, and have your picture taken!  Beth is a great addition to the team... I'll get a picture of her up here, as soon as I find one (didn't have my camera at the morning workout!)

Wednesdays Track Workout was a little light on runners.   But the workout was strong none the less.  This group started with a 300M ... and followed it up with 12 400's with 200M recovery.  Much of this workout, in the rain!  Nice work!

On to tonight!  Team R.E.D. Thursday!   We're hosted by Amy and Dan, gathering at the clubhouse of Somerby Golf Course in Byron.  This should prove to be a lot of fun!  We'll get our typical run or walk routes of 3, 4 or 6 miles.   Then, weather permitting the plan for post run will include an evening on the patio.. with ServiceMaster of Rochester picking up the tab on several pizzas, pitchers of beer and wine!  When that free ride runs out...  Somerby is offering $7 pitchers!

  • Saturday 1pm:  Team R.E.D. on the River!   So far somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 R.E.D. members are heading out to the Mighty Mississippi for a day and/or overnight on the river.   This should prove to be a great night with the forecast looking very favorable!  There's still time to join the group by dropping an email to Dan at
  • Sunday 4-7pm:  Scott & Sonja have some celebrating to do and you're invited!  See the note from Sonja below
