I'd like to thank Renee for sharing the information below relating to the Rochester Active Sports Club and their mission to raise funds for a couple of local trail systems... There are fliers, that I'll send out to the Team R.E.D. distribution... but if you're not on that distribution, and would like to get a flier, please drop me an email request at byron.teamred@gmail.com If you're looking for a place to dine out this weekend, Victorias seems like a great place to consider!
RASC Trail Fundraiser – Sunday Feb 19th
As we continue our goal of a large fundraiser every other year...here is our way of filling in the cracks...
We are currently working toward raising $10,000 for a matching grant that we have received from the DNR for the purpose of maintaining and replacing grooming and mowing equipment for the Essex Park and Quarry Hill trail systems. For those of you who are not aware, the club grooms and clears the trails throughout the year, not only for the use of our ski team members, but for the community at large. We hope that you are proud to be a part of an organization whose focus not only benefits its own members, but also benefits the general population of the greaterRochester area as well!
To this end, here is our request:
1. Print the flyer
2. Bring the flyer with you to Victoria's Restaurant on Sunday, February 19 between 4:00-9:00 pm. Victoria's will donate 25% of your meal back to the club. You can Dine In or Carry Out. This is about as painless a way as we could think of to help you support all the work that goes into maintaining the trail systems at Quarry Hill and Essex Park..
3. Tell all of your friends about this opportunity!
4. Donations for grooming and mowing equipment are always welcome! www.rasc-mn.org Click the RASC Donors button at the left to see how you can donate!
RASC Socks and Buffs
RASC has a number of socks and neck warmers still available that need to go to a good home. Several people have expressed an interest in purchasing more socks than they originally ordered and will be the first to pick through the options but be sure to get in line for the remaining few pairs. If you have interest in stocking up on these great socks contact Henry Walker (wlmailhtml:walker.henry@mayo.edu). Likewise we have a number of great buffs (neck warmers) that need to go. They are bright and very effective at warding off the cold (cold weather will return again – right?). Socks are $7.25/pr and neck warmers are $10 each. For RNST skiers, we will bring socks and neck warmers to the RNST practices over the next few days to make it easy to pick up items your interested in. If you have pre-ordered socks and haven’t picked them up please do so early next week.
Minnesota Power Pull – March 4th
The Minnesota Power Pull will be held on March 4th at the Mayo Civic center. It is a standard race on the Concept 2 rowing machine of 2,000 meters. They will have categories for juniors, lightweights, collegiate, open and masters. One entry fee allows you as many races as your body can handle. At the end of the day, they’ll have races for parents, relay-races of teams of 4, and anything else that they can come up with. People can email John Bartucz [john@bartucz.com] for more information, or sign up directly at RegattaCentral: https://www.regattacentral.com/regatta/index.jsp?job_id=2174
