  • Wednesday 6pm:  With the Hill workout called off, we could add a group run in Byron from the Bears Den.  Join us at 6pm for 3 , 4 or 6 miles... and a post run social.
  • Thursday 6:30am:  Speed work at the indoor track of RCTC.  Under current rules, the track is open for running only 6am-8am weekdays, and 7pm-10pm weekend nights.  It is available for walking on week nights from 5pm-10pm.

Congratulations to Team R.E.D. member Eric Klein for his results in the first of the Winter Series 5K!  Eric was the first male finisher.... and 2nd overall, getting caught by Ruth Brennan Morrey - which is nothing to be ashamed of!

We have a new member!  Well, Julie actually joined us a year ago... and never got her Team R.E.D. shirt!  She renewed her membership today, and we got things caught up on the shirt side of things.  If you haven't met Julie, come to Tod & Meg's this Thursday for Inappropriate t-shirt as she has a plan for that event!

Wendy presents the Team R.E.D. shirt to Julie!

Brock was the MC today.. nice work! - pic stolen from Sue Palmer - Thanks Sue!

The Weekend!

Before we look at the weekend stuff... It would appear Team R.E.D. will need a new plan for indoor winter track workouts. I was very surprised to see this... Walking Only in the evening.  I can only imagine it's because there is so much going on, sometimes with baseball and basketball on the court, and people like us "flying" around the track.. it does get dicey sometimes. Yet really?  No running on the track?  That's sort of like "no swimming in the pool!" or  "no farting in the bathtub!"  I mean, that's one of the best things about bathtubs!

Woo would be happy to lead some morning speed sessions on the indoor track on Thursday or Friday mornings... email him at twoo262@gmail.com if interested, or connect with him via facebook.

RCTC Field House Track Hours

  • Mornings from 6 a.m. - 8 a.m. for Walking and Jogging Monday through Friday.

  •  Evenings from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m for WALKING ONLY Monday through Friday.
**********************************

Don't forget to sign up for the Underwear One-Mile!   The fun keeps getting better.. we have additional door prizes added.. along with a variety of great prizes from TerraLoco, we now have car washes from Needs Car wash, as well as an entry to the Med City Half Marathon and another to the Med City 5K!  Lots of chances to win - all while helping a great cause in Join the Journey!

Sunday 8am:  Off Season Striders hit it again.. this time from Brothers Bar & Grill.. meet at the back door.  Why?  Because backdoors are cool places to meet.
Monday 6pm:  Monday Maniacs is going to Beetles Bar & Grill in Rochester!  Typically we head downtown as it's so well lit.  This used to be a mainstay for the Monday crew, so it's a bit of a heading home party!  Come join the fun!

Wednesday 5pm:  There is a hill workout! Meet at the parking lot of Edina Realty, across from TJ Maxx.  The workout will take place in the Master of Hills neighborhood.

Thursday 6pm:  Team R.E.D. heads back to Wildwood Bar & Grill in Rochester.  Easy access to the trails, and good space for a group social!

Remember to get your Inappropriate tee shirt ready!  That's just a couple weeks away, held on Thursday Nov 20th and once again hosted by Tod & Meg!  If you're going to order a shirt, the time is now.. if you want to create one, it sure might be time to start thinking about what it will be, and how you get it done in time!

Tuesday 6pm:  TerraLoco 5K series continues!  This 5K happens every Tuesday and always benefits a local charity.
Thursday 5pm-8pm: Olmsted Medical Center is hosting a Women's Health Pavilion Open House to showcase their new facility.  A week or so you had a chance to see the new space at Mayo, now here's a great opportunity to see what OMC has lined up for women.  More details can be found at http://www.olmmed.org/about/news/2014/whp-open-house/
Saturday 9am:  Gamehavenen True Cross Country Run.  This is a great race.. 5 miles off road, a chance of mud, and a chance of zombies!  Costumes are the norm at this event... and I never got a strong feeling that anyone committed to one theme vs another.  I know some mentioned animal theme, and others mentioned superhero undies and team red shirts. Personally, I'm going with the Superhero Undies and Team R.E.D. Shirt... but really, anything is great, just get in the spirit of it and run (and watch out for the Zombies, I happen to know they're from Byron!)  - You can still register online at http://form.jotformpro.com/form/42657378568977

Underwear One-Mile Registration Opens 10/31!

The Team R.E.D. Underwear One-Mile registration opens on Friday 10/31... Pink Boxer Shorts will go to the first 50 registered participants... I had been saying the funds will go to Breast Cancer Research, upon further review, I didn't find an organization that could commit specifically to that purpose.   Therefore, we called an audible, and the proceeds will go to Join the Journey to support their mission of supporting individuals on their Breast Cancer journey.

Of course the following link is slightly warmer weather, but I keep getting questions as to "what type of underwear is ok"... the answer is any!  Come participate, have fun and raise some money for Join the Journey!  Remember, Dec 5th is the kickoff to Brrrr Fest! So plan to join us at the Bears Den post run!

I was also reminded we didn't post any pictures from Mia & Danny's wedding reception.. here are a couple that turned out far better than any I took... it was a great evening for them, and years of happiness & love are in the future for them!  Congrats to Mia & Danny!

Making their entrance....
Enjoying the moment...

We're at the Bears Den tonight.... If you don't already have a headlamp, visit your friendly TerraLoco staff and they will get you dialed in! If you don't get a chance to do that today, come out anyway, wear reflective clothing and you'll be safe in our group of lamps!

Saturday 7:30am: Off Season Striders get rolling from the back side of Brothers Bar & Grill in Rochester.  Saturday is also All-Saints Day.. so dress appropriately, as you are all mighty saintly!
Sunday 8am:  Off Season Striders goes again, this time from Panera South!

Best wishes to all of you running the New York City Marathon, Rails to Trails.. or wherever your legs take you this weekend!

Here's a re-post of the race opportunities and a few reminders of upcoming events!

I love this shot of the start of Surf the Murph 50 Miler.. in the darkness you can see Chris and Sarah ready to roll!  I'm sure we can hear some great stories of the Surf the Murph events during this upcoming week as we get together!

Several members were at Monster Dash this past weekend.. and they were rockin' the costumes!   Nice work in the race as well!

Amy & Mike spotted near the start!

Below is a pic of Team R.E.D. award winners at the Spirit Run.  Notice Dan is holding a trophy, as he was the overall champion on Saturday.  Also, missing from this pic is Roger, who also scored an award.  Nice work everyone!

Team R.E.D. represented well with several awards at the Spirit Run!

We have another full, fun week ahead of us!  It all starts with a trip to the Douglas Saloon!

For all weeknight runs:
Remember reflective clothing and a headlamp if you have one!

    • What type of underwear is acceptable?  Any and all!  Some people are talking about fun undies, i.e. superhero and the like, others are thinking long underwear!  Others are thinking more booty shorts, or sexy fun undies.... you could even wear jammies if that made you more comfortable!
    • Don't think you can handle participating in this event? Want to volunteer instead?  Please drop Tom an email at byron.teamred@gmail.com to volunteer!

So many people have been racing, and achieving great results lately, I just don't think I can post them all!  I know Mankato was loaded with PR's and age group placements!  That's Awesome!   I also know several are heading to Surf the Murf this weekend.. make sure you hydrate, that's a long way to trail run!

I'd just like to end the post with a pic that demonstrates what determination, drive, preparation can bring.  Angela ran her first marathon at Mankato.. and she crushed it!  Steady as a rock... her pace never wavered!   Congrats to Team R.E.D.'s newest Boston Qualifier.. Angela Eide!

You'll have to ask Dave & Elaine to explain how Angela came around to becoming a runner just 4 short years ago... it's a great story, then ask Angela the same question and you'll get another great story, although it's quite different!

Oliver 'group' running
