New Event & More!

Run. Eat. Drink.  Support Pink 


Mark your calendars for December 5th, 6:30pm.  Team R.E.D. is hosting the inaugural:

Underwear One Mile!  
Run. Eat. Drink. Support Pink!

That's right.. run 1 mile in your undies in December! All while raising funds for charity!  Then stop at the Bears Den for the post race party!   The 1st 50 registered runners are guaranteed Pink Boxers.  We'll have door prizes available as well.    This years event benefits Breast Cancer Research and takes place as the kickoff to Byron's Brrrr Fest!  

Online registration opens on Oct 31st.   You must be at least 18 years or older to participate.  Please check this blog, along with www.rochestertrackclub.com for registration starting Oct 31st.   

Group Run/Activities
  • This Afternoon - Section 1A Cross Country Championships are taking place at Norther Hills Golf Course in Rochester.  Section 1A contains 21 of the areas small schools, and they are loaded with talent! 
    • Girls race starts at 4pm
    • Boys roll at 4:45pm   
      • The Rochester Track Club is a great supporter of this event by providing access to equipment and providing many key volunteers. 
    • What does it mean to compete in a Sections Meet? 
      • From a team perspective... the top two teams from each section will advance to the State Cross Country Meet held on Nov 1st at St. Olaf College in Northfield. 
      • From an individual perspective... the top eight individuals (not on one of the advancing teams) earn a berth to the State Tournament. 
  • Team R.E.D. Tonight 6:30pm- A chance to check out the Mayo Clinic's Sports Medicines facility! It's pretty awesome stuff!   To register please call 507-266-9100 to register and visit sportsmedicine.mayoclinc.org to learn more about their performance solution programs. 
  • Saturday 7:30am - Off Season Striders will gather at Fat Willy's located in Shoppes On Maine along south Broadway.  This group typically goes anywhere from 5-8 miles (you pick your distance and your pace!) - this is a new location to run, and to eat! 
  • Sunday 8am - Off Season Striders heads out again, this time from Dunn Bros North.  Again, feel free to pick your distance and pace.. and of course, meet some people along the route and at the post workout coffee/breakfast! 
  • Next week Monday - Thursday updates will come Friday (after Tom O' is through the sections meet!)

Saturday Oct 25th - The 5-Alarm 5K is taking place in Claremont.  This sounds fun!  The race starts at 10am, and is followed by a Firemans Chilli Feed and an all day happy hour at the local pub!  You can register race day at the Fire Hall in Claremont. Saturday Oct 25th - The Lost Creek Hiking Trail Fun Run / Hike takes place. This is a great event, and you get bused 6.3 miles from the finish... and work your way back on this relatively new trail system.   Several RED members (including myself) have done this.. it's truly a wonderful event!   More details at http://rochestertrackclub.com/main.asp?SectionID=3&SubSectionID=28&ArticleID=659
Saturday Nov 1st - 5k/10K Fun Run/Walk to Fight Lung Cancer.  Team R.E.D. member Jim Li is a supporter of this event.     Registration  is available at  http://www.wortmanlungcancerfoundation.com/upcoming-events/ and again available on Race Day starting at 8am.. So many people have been racing, and achieving great results lately, I just don't think I can post them all!  I know Mankato was loaded with PR's and age group placements!  That's Awesome!   I also know several are heading to Surf the Murf this weekend.. make sure you hydrate, that's a long way to trail run!  

I'd just like to end the post with a pic that demonstrates what determination, drive, preparation can bring.  Angela ran her first marathon at Mankato.. and she crushed it!  Steady as a rock... her pace never wavered!   Congrats to Team R.E.D.'s newest Boston Qualifier.. Angela Eide!  



You'll have to ask Dave & Elaine to explain how Angela came around to becoming a runner just 4 short years ago... it's a great story, then ask Angela the same question and you'll get another great story, although it's quite different!
