Tonight!

Quick update for tonight... the trail crew has a plan... see two options below, and Sunday's post to catch the rest of the week!

Don't forget to vote on the poll... with only 6 votes cast, the girls seem to be winning... What's that? zero votes for Garret... come on!  Someone must want to throw him a bone!

  • Tuesday 5:30pm:   Tempo Run on the Douglas Trail.   Meet at the trailhead in Rochester (along valleyhigh road next to IBM).  This tempo is mostly flat, but a bridge or two might make you think otherwise.
  • Tuesday 6:15pm:  Tuesday Trail crew heads out from Quarry Hill for what is commonly referred to as the Quarry Hill Quickie!  Meet at the tennis courts and enjoy.

  • Sunday, July 28, 2013

Monday Maniacs -- and then some!

Wow! What a weekend of events! Team R.E.D. was active at the Woman's Race in Rochester.... active at Wabasha River Boat Days... active at the Shithouse 5K in Lacrosse... active active active! I would venture to guess some were active at the Marathon Training Long Run and the Off Season Striders run as well. Pretty amazing group!

Late tonight, I'm planning to update this post with some catch up race strategy videos we captured at the Beer Mile... if you're on Team Red Facebook you may have already seen them, but if not.. it's a treat to see how complicated a beer mile might be, or how simple it might be. (Hopefully have a chance to lift some pictures from weekend races and get them in as well, or that might come another day, time will tell).

In the meantime.. the most time critical thing of note are this week's workout options!

    • Monday 6pm: The Monday Maniacs are going to meet at Wildwood Sports Bar for a fun run/walk. We will head out on the trails which are flat and mainly shaded. It is always nice to start the week with some sort of fitness. We always seem to have a great time! Everyone is always welcome to bring a friend or two!
    • Tuesday 5:30pm:   Tempo Run on the Douglas Trail.   Meet at the trailhead in Rochester (along valleyhigh road next to IBM).  This tempo is mostly flat, but a bridge or two might make you think otherwise.
    • Tuesday 6:15pm:  Tuesday Trail crew heads out.. (I haven't seen where yet, but I'm sure it's awesome!)  Check back for details!
    • Wednesday 5:30pm:   Speed work on the track in Byron.   The track is located behind the middle school on 4th street (even if you'll be a little late, show up and turn the wheels!).
    • Thursday 5:30pm:  Team B.E.D. takes off via Bike from the Bears Den in Byron.  This is a great addition to Thursday nights!  Gives you a chance to either cross train, or a potential alternative if you are recovering from a running bump.   Join Randy and crew as they roll out for some road time, before getting back for the social part of the evening.
    • Thursday 6pm:  Team R.E.D. is back in Byron at the Bears Den - first time back since the Beer Mile, I sure hope they'll let us in again!  We'll have routes of 3, 4 or 6 miles.
      • Note:  The roundabout in Byron is now open, so coming from Rochester you can take the 10th Ave entrance, and stay right around the bout!

Tell me who is best prepared for the race... The Guys? The Girls? or Garret? See Poll on the right hand side of the blog.

    Thanks for hosting Jean!

Was a great night at the Eagles Club. George pulled a nice surprise speech on Jean.. that was fun! What a wonderful night it was!!

    Wednesday, July 24, 2013

    Join us Thursday!

Jean Murray is hosting us this Thursday at the Eagles Club. Jean is awesome in more ways than one... she is a superstar contributor to the Rochester Track Club board!   I had served like 1000 years with her as the co-director of Spring Classic, except that can't be true, she is younger than 1000.     She is the leader of the Off Season Striders weekend runs.... and she is a Team R.E.D. member who wants to say Thank You!   She is Awesome!

Join us Thursday at 6pm (5:30pm if you prefer to bike).    Jean is hosting Team R.E.D. and it will be one fun party!   You don't need to bring anything, as she has arranged for food, lemonade and beer starting at 6pm!

Below are links of some routes ranging from 3.3 miles to 5.7    I do think there's another option, but my download is acting goofy  (could it be the time of night?).. .at any rate.. come join the event and celebrate!

Ahhh.. did anyone ever mention how fun the Tuesday night trail runs are?   I joined last night and caught a couple pictures.  Very awesome what Mr. Mason has pulled together!

Jen brought two left feet!   - luckily the team bailed her out with shoes!

    Great turnout for the trail!

Two new girls.. Kristie and Andrea make their way, while Yvonne pushes them!

Really spectacular scene at the overlook.

Adam did the bike thing... hey! if you want to bike on trail night, check out the park and do it if it works!

Best Wishes to Paul in Golden Colorado!

It took some time to get this picture together... I would note, the women flocked to Paul very quickly for the picture, lucky guy!   Then .. the unthinkable.. check out Garrett's expression, and Randy's... and draw your own conclusion as to what took place!

None the less.. Paul isn't leaving Team R.E.D., he's simply going to be a bit further away, and now will pay the increased "out of state" membership dues!  We'll see him again soon, this I know!

Also, thanks to Chris for a great toast, recognizing Paul, as one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet... and it's so true!   Best of Luck in Golden, CO  Paul... and I sure hope your new place can handle a party of 40 next summer!
