Workin' for the Weekend!

Here it is!  The glorious thing we call The Weekend!   I had missed the Saturday long run on the look at the week, so wanted to get that out there before I head off to work...  more updates regarding Sunday and into next week will follow...

  • Saturday 7am:  The Marathon & Half Marathon Training long run starts and finishes at the RAC.   The Marathon route is roughly 16 miles... so half marathoners can anticipate about 8-9 miles.   The long route can be found at http://runningrochester.blogspot.com/
  • Saturday 8:15am:  The Rochester Track Clubs Woman's Race. This a 4 Miler around Silver Lake, and is part of the RTC Grand Prix Series. You can get more information and register at http://rochestertrackclub.com/main.asp?SectionID=3&SubSectionID=28&ArticleID=618
  • Sunday 7:30am:  Off Season Striders are gathering at Panera South for a group run, followed by coffee and chatter.  This group is typically 5-8 miles with varied paces.  Join in the fun!

Team R.E.D. Pentenial Celebration!
Come one! Come all!
Sunday July 27th, 4-7pm (later if you choose!)
If you can get there for just a piece of it.. do it!
Bears Den in Byron
Volleyball Courts/Deck Reserved for Team R.E.D.
Also, Bean Bags, Beersbee, Frisbee Available

Team R.E.D. is celebrating the success of our first 5 years of existence!  It's hard to believe it's been 5 years, but it has! A lot has happened over the years, we'd love to get everyone together, current active members, members who are less active than they used to be, and those who are just considering becoming members!  Come celebrate and meet your teammates!

What will happen at this celebration?
  • We'll be outside at the Bears Den, so dress accordingly for the weather.  In fact that whole outdoor area is reserved for Team R.E.D!   We'll have the patio as well.  Right now, the forecast looks like Sunday afternoon will be 72 degrees with slight chance of rain.  Of course, if the weather turns poor, we'll move inside!
  • You can consider the entire celebration a social event, with some interruptions for Pentenial Awards and various contests with prize winners!
  • You might consider tossing chairs or blankets in your car in case you wish to sit in the grass.

What is provided?
  • Team R.E.D. and the Den are providing 1 Free Keg of Mich Golden Light!
  • Team R.E.D. is providing a variety of appetizers throughout the late afternoon.
  • ServiceMaster of Rochester is providing a sound system to keep the party rolling with great music!
  • Prizes from our fantastic sponsors!

What does it cost to attend?
  • There is no charge to attend! And still the beer is free and the appetizers are free! *While supplies last*
  • Also Note:  Team R.E.D. is in the midst of our renewal campaign, and we'd love to have you take care of that at the party.   Renewal is just $10 each summer, however, if you joined Team R.E.D. this calendar year, you are not due until summer of 2015.
Can I bring my kids?  Or a friend?
  • Yes! And Yes!
I haven't  come to Team R.E.D. in a long time.  I'm not even sure if my membership is current. Am I still invited?
  • Yes! Come re-unite with members you'll surely remember, and meet some of the many new faces!

And the winners are....

Congrats to Evan Richardson and Leah Brossoit for their Beer Mile victories!  Evan not only won the 2014 event, he did so while setting a course record running the Beer Mile in 6:07! Interesting to note, Evan's unseated his brother Braden who won the inaugural event but was not back to defend his title in 2014.

For the Women, Leah ran away with the title in a time of 9:16! Very impressive display of speed and drinking. Turns out Leah is a recent college grad, and those years of college prepared her well!  Tohnia Schmidt remains the Women's Course record holder at 8:27.

Complete results will be available at www.rochestertrackclub.com soon.

Champions Leah and Evan!

Be sure to check out previous posts to see the details of group runs, and upcoming events!  Greeat events like a Pool Party after tonight's trail run!  Also, Thursday is home hosted by the Ryans - always fun!

Also, a reminder to get connected with the many new faces we've been seeing at group runs.  At Monday Maniacs we were joined by two first timers, Jessie and Angela, as well as Dave (who is now nearly a veteran as he ran Monday and Tuesday last week as well!)

Team R.E.D. - Free Kids Mile!

Two things before we get to today's parade and kids mile...

#1.... the new background colors for the blog.. need to know if that's good, there's a poll on the side of the blog, please click something. If you have suggestions, feel free to send them to byron.teamred@gmail.com

#2...  I'd like to make sure you see the faces of 5, five, FIVE new members!   They all joined at the Beer Mile on Thursday.  When you run into them, be sure to introduce yourself, and welcome them!

Troy joins R.E.D.!  He's the brother of Tod, and that's not his fault!

Zac joins Team R.E.D.! He's friends with Troy, brother of Tod, it's complicated!

Ed joins Team R.E.D.!  Ed rocks the Tri- stuff, and now crushed a beer mile!

Jim joins Team R.E.D.!  I've known Jim a long time.. he's alright! More than alright!

Sherilyn joins Team R.E.D. and I've known her for years, she's awesome!   Her son Ben is already a member, and we'll soon see her husband Steve on board, we hope!

***************************

It was a small but furious turnout for the Kids Mile... lots of smiles on some faces, and a few tears from some that found it to be very far... but they all made it!  And were recognized with a Medal, courtesy of the Paul Melby Kids Mile! - Thanks to the Rochester Track Club for supporting our event with those medals!

ServiceMaster of Rochester came through with two awesome golf carts, listing all the Team R.E.D. sponsors along the way!

They are yellow... and clean! ServiceMaster Clean!

Always thank our Team R.E.D. sponsors!  Today we recognized Appliance Village! Pro Image! Needs Car Wash! Bears Den! Med City Marathon! ServiceMaster! TerraLoco!

The young ones getting ready to get ready!

They are off!  28 Kids took part, would love to see 100+ next year!

It's a race.. and the pace might change!

Even the little ones were on board for One Mile!

Lorelei carried this young girl a long way, then set her down to run in... and her mom then joined in too!  Awesome!

Updates for Tuesday & Thursday

Check it out... (also check out the previous post to catch the stuff that was already locked in).

Tuesday 6:15pm:   The Trail crew has landed on a location.  It's Root River Park (on the edge of Rochester)... sure is a lot of fun, but you'll want to check out the google map link to make sure you know where you're going (as it's a bit off the beaten path.. so to speak!)
